What the coil is, and why the filter isn't the problem
Two minutes of reading here saves you paying for the wrong service.
- The evaporator coil sits behind the filter, inside the indoor unit. It's the cold part.
- Air is pulled through the coil, drops its heat there, and comes out cold.
- Aircon filter cleaning only catches the big dust. The filter protects the coil, it doesn't cool anything.
- Fine dust passes straight through and sticks to the wet coil, which is why cleaning air conditioner coils is the job that matters.
- Once that layer builds up, air can't give up its heat, so it comes out lukewarm.
- The blower wheel behind the coil clogs too. That's your weak airflow, and the reason ac vent cleaning alone never helps.
- Damp plus trapped dust on the coil is what makes the room smell when you switch on.
- Aircon filter replacement changes none of this, because the dirt is on the other side of it.

I just changed the filter. Why is the air still warm?
Because the filter isn't the part that cools. It's a screen that catches large dust on the way in. The coil sitting behind it is what pulls heat out of the air.
Fine dust goes straight through the filter and sticks to the wet coil. Once that layer is there, a brand new filter changes nothing.
Is coil cleaning the same thing as a chemical wash?
Cleaning the coil properly is what a chemical wash is. The coil is treated with chemical solution and flushed, and the blower comes out to be cleaned.
A standard service does not touch either of them.
How do I know if I need the RM100 service or the RM150 wash?
If the unit still cools well and you just want it maintained, RM100 is enough. If the air is lukewarm, airflow is weak, or the room smells when it starts, RM100 will not fix it and you want the wash.
